Melba Black, MS – Reiki Master

I have over twenty years experience in the health and wellness field. I have taught and trained fitness instructors for many years and realize that life is about movement. The body, mind, and spirit are a whole complete network and work delicately together to keep one balanced, healthy and evolving.

I have practiced Yoga for over twenty years and have been an instructor for the past ten years. I am certified through AAAI/ISMA and have attended workshops in Ashtanga and Kundalini. In Houston, TX, I studied with a Preceptor from India to learn the meditative-style, Raja Yoga.

In Shreveport, LA, I studied for two years under a Sifu Taoist Priestess to learn Tai Chi and Qi Gong. While in Shreveport, I became well versed in Authentic Movement, Movement Therapy, and Music Therapy and danced with a dance company, Arodasi, whose performances consisted of the soul’s interpretation of life and used Gabrielle Roth’s and Isadora Duncan’s philosophy of movement and dance.

While in Houston, I became a student of ballroom dance and competed in the Latin dances, Rumba and Cha Cha, winning blue ribbons in both. Ballroom Dance has been proven to help with immune deficiency illnesses and stroke patients.

I hold Bachelor degrees in Business, Nutrition Counseling and Master degrees in Psychology and Metaphysics. I am currently working on a doctorate in Health Theology from the American Institute of Holistic Theology.

I am a Reiki Karuna Master certified through USUI Shiki Ryoho.

I hold certifications in Yoga, Arthritis Foundation’s Aquatic Program, YMCA Fitness Specialist. I am also certified as a facilitator in a 12-step recovery program, Power To Choose – Restore Ministries, Get Real Weight Management – YMCA and IDEA, and Grief Recovery Specialist – Grief Recovery Institute.

Kelly Mallory

Hello, my name is Kelly Mallory. I have worked in the healthcare field since 1993. I graduated from college with a degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I worked in Psychiatric rehab initially and then went on to specialize in Geriatric rehab.

I always wanted to help others in their healing process. I was suffering from headaches at the time and my father inspired me to look at alternative ways of healing. I began to be interested in Acupuncture, Taichi, and Meditation. Acupuncture healed my headaches that the doctors kept giving me pain medicine for. Through my own healing quest and interest in Eastern medicine, I took a Shiatsu Acupressure class in Baltimore, MD. I started realizing more and more the body/mind connection and how our emotions, thinking, and diet impact our physical health. At that time, I decided to become a traveling therapist and that brought me to South Carolina.

In 2000 during big Medicare cutbacks, I decided to get my Massage Therapy license. I have been loving it ever since. I, eventually, put my Occupational Therapy job on the back burner and have been concentrating on Massage Therapy. I have taken many advanced studies in John Barnes Myofascial Release and Upledger’s CranioSacral work. I am also a Reiki Master and use energy work combined with my other techniques. I believe at looking at the whole person and all aspects to bring about balance and wellness.

I am currently available on Tuesdays at the Kian Temple office in Cumming. You can reach me at 770-365-6368 to set up your first appointment.

I look forward to helping you in your healing process.
